Try using a nice FTP program with a GUI to manually upload WordPress instead of all that confusing command-line business.

I enjoy your videos. But the method you use for installing manually here is best only for those who prefer to work from a command line interface. Most people who wish to install WP manually should probably use an FTP program (such as FireFTP on Firefox browser, or ummm Fetch or something on a mac). With the FTP upload method it looks just like normal Mac or PC windows. Drag and drop.

Step 1 is to download the latest WP to your computer desktop and unzip it.

Step 2 is to upload the correct folder from your desktop, to the correct folder on your server via FTP.

With the FTP method there are no confusing command line codes to hash out and no “fourth time’s a charm” like what you encountered yourself in this teaching video. You just drag and drop, and you’re done.

My suggestion is to tell the viewers that there are other ways of doing this. And / or, say why you would choose the method that you showed?

Thank you for the podcast series.
